Hungry people and fat cows
Some facts on meat production:
1. for cattle-breeding 17x more land, 14x more water and 10x more energy is needed than for agriculture;
2. a farm with 10.000 cows produces waste equvivalent to a city with 100.000 people;
3. cattle-breeding contributes more than 50% to the pollution of water sources;
4. there is 14x more pesticides in meat than in vegetables;
5. an average american meat-eating family indirectly uses 264 galons of fuel - enough to drive a car several months…
6. cattle-breeding consumes a third of global grain production;
7. the amount of natural resources necesary to produce 1 kg of meat would give you 200kg of tomatoes or 160kg of potatoes;
8. not to mention how much methane cows produce each day - which has 23x stronger greenhouse effect than CO2;
